The Idea

What Longist actually means.

Longism is a form of left-wing populism that advocates for wealth redistribution, heavy taxation on the rich, and a strong interventionist state.

Huey Long's 'Share Our Wealth' program proposed capping personal fortunes and funding welfare through high taxes on the wealthy. As Louisiana's governor, Long centralized power, weakened local councils, and pressured the press.
