§ 01
The Idea

What Georgism actually means.

Georgism advocates for a land value tax (LVT) to capture economic rent while maintaining a free-market economy with minimal taxation on labor and capital.

Henry George championed the 'Single Tax' movement, proposing that all public revenue come from land value taxation. His ideas aimed to curb land speculation, reduce economic inequality, and eliminate inefficient taxes.
